The Sierra starts at ₹11.49 lakh as an introductory price, placing it above the Curvv in Tata’s ICE SUV lineup. With multiple petrol and diesel engine choices and higher‑segment premium features, it enters the highly competitive midsize SUV space. Tata is targeting buyers who want practicality and family comfort along with a lifestyle‑oriented design.

The new Sierra retains a boxy silhouette inspired by the 1991 original, featuring a high‑set bonnet, squarish wheel arches and a strong shoulder line. The iconic glasshouse styling is recreated with a blacked‑out rear quarter section merging cleanly with the floating roof and roof rails. LED light bars run across the width at the front and back, complemented by vertically stacked LED headlights, gloss‑black cladding and faux skid plates. Alloy wheels range from 17‑inch to 19‑inch, with the panoramic sunroof adding to its lifestyle appeal.

Interior: tech‑loaded and comfort‑focused

The cabin takes a premium and spacious approach with a three‑screen layout: a 10.25‑inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3‑inch central touchscreen and a segment‑unique 12.3‑inch front passenger screen with wireless headphones. Additional highlights include Dolby Atmos surround sound with a 12‑speaker JBL system, ambient lighting, HUD, dual‑zone climate control, front ventilated seats, wireless charging and powered driver’s seat adjustment.

Second‑row occupants also get AC vents, sunshades, twin 65W USB‑C ports and a 2‑step reclining bench. Boss mode for the front passenger seat further enhances long‑distance comfort.

Engine and performance options

The Sierra debuts Tata’s all‑new 1.5‑litre TGDI turbo‑petrol engine that produces 160hp and 255Nm, paired to an Aisin‑sourced 6‑speed automatic. A 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated Atkinson‑cycle petrol (106hp, 145Nm) is also available with a 6‑speed manual or a 7‑speed DCT. Diesel buyers get a familiar 1.5‑litre engine delivering 118hp, with both 6‑speed manual (260Nm) and 6‑speed automatic (280Nm) options.

The Sierra is front‑wheel‑drive only for now, though Tata is evaluating CNG and hybrid powertrains for the future.

Safety and ADAS

Safety is a major highlight of the new Sierra, which comes standard with six airbags, all‑wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, a 360‑degree camera setup, hill‑hold assist and ISOFIX child‑seat mounts. Higher variants include a Level 2+ ADAS suite with 22 features, including adaptive cruise control, lane‑keep assist, intelligent speed assist and forward collision warning. Based on Tata’s recent performance, a 5‑star Bharat NCAP rating is strongly expected.

Variants, colours and feature highlights

The 2025 Sierra is offered in six colour options, including dual‑tone and lifestyle‑inspired shades. Feature spread varies by variant, with sunroof, ADAS, the full three‑screen setup and premium audio expected on higher trims.

Rivals in India

As a midsize SUV, the Sierra takes on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate. It also competes with the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and Citroen Aircross X, while the Basalt offers a coupe‑SUV alternative.

The 2025 Tata Sierra marks one of the brand’s most anticipated launches of the year. With standout styling, a tech‑rich cabin, multiple engine choices and strong safety credentials, it promises to be a compelling option for buyers who want a premium midsize SUV with a touch of nostalgia.
