KTM Duke Series (125/250/390) Issued Global Recall Due to Fuel Tank Cap Fault

KTM 125, 250 & 390 Duke Recalled Globally Over Fuel Tank Issue

KTM has announced a global recall for its Duke series, including the 125, 250, 390, and 990 models. This recall covers select motorcycles manufactured in 2024 and focuses on a faulty fuel tank cap seal that may cause leakage or water ingress. The issue has led KTM to request owners to visit authorised service centres for a preventive replacement.

KTM Duke Series Recalled Globally

The recall impacts the KTM 125 Duke, KTM 250 Duke, KTM 390 Duke, and KTM 990 Duke. According to KTM, the affected units feature a fuel tank cap seal that does not meet the brand’s quality standards. This issue surfaced during internal quality checks, prompting the manufacturer to initiate a global safety recall.

What Is the Fuel Tank Cap Seal Issue?

KTM states that some fuel tank cap seals developed small cracks over time due to substandard material quality. These cracks can potentially cause fuel leakage or allow water to seep into the tank. The defect affects only select units from the 2024 production batch, making it crucial for owners to check whether their motorcycle is impacted.

Which KTM Bikes Are Affected?

The recall includes the KTM 125 Duke, KTM 250 Duke, KTM 390 Duke, and KTM 990 Duke produced in 2024. Not all models from the year are part of the recall, and only specific VIN batches are affected. KTM recommends all Duke owners verify recall eligibility through its official channels.

What Should KTM Duke Owners Do?

Customers owning one of the affected KTM Duke models will be informed through an official notification letter. KTM has advised these owners to book an appointment at an authorised service centre for inspection and part replacement. Motorcycle users can also check their recall status by entering their VIN and delivery certificate number on the KTM website under the ‘Service’ section. The replacement will be carried out free of cost.
