Hyundai to Launch 3 New Hybrid SUVs in India

Hyundai is preparing a major hybrid push in India, with three new hybrid SUVs expected to launch starting in 2027. With rising interest in fuel-efficient and future-ready powertrains, the company aims to strengthen its lineup with a mix of premium and mass-market hybrid options.

Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Under Evaluation

Hyundai is evaluating the Palisade Hybrid for the Indian market. Globally, it uses a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing 334 hp and 460 Nm. Despite its size, the SUV returns around 14 kmpl. If approved, it could arrive in late 2027 or early 2028 as Hyundai’s new flagship in India.

Development of the next-generation Creta, internally called SX3, has already begun. It will be based on a brand-new platform and is expected to feature sharper styling, improved proportions and a more premium cabin. Alongside the existing 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engines, Hyundai is readying a hybrid variant based on the 1.5-litre NA petrol. A launch timeline around 2027 looks likely.

New Three-Row Hybrid SUV (Project Ni1i)

Hyundai is also working on an all-new three-row hybrid SUV positioned between the Alcazar and the discontinued Tucson. Codenamed Ni1i, this model will use a hybrid-ready version of Hyundai’s 1.5-litre petrol engine. It is expected to reach showrooms around 2027, filling a much-needed space in Hyundai’s lineup.

Hyundai’s hybrid roadmap aligns with its broader plan to expand efficient and premium offerings for India. With hybrid demand rising quickly, these upcoming SUVs could provide strong competition to Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra.
