Nissan is gearing up for a major comeback in India with four new cars across different segments. These upcoming Nissan models include the Tekton mid-size SUV, a compact MPV based on the Triber, a new 7-seater SUV and an affordable electric car targeting the entry-level EV space. With updated platforms, new features and competitive pricing, Nissan aims to strengthen its presence in India’s growing SUV and EV market.

Nissan Tekton: New Mid-Size SUV

The Nissan Tekton is the most anticipated new Nissan SUV for India. Based on the next-generation Renault Duster and underpinned by the CMF-B modular platform, the Tekton brings a rugged, upright and boxy stance. Highlights include C-shaped LED DRLs connected by a sleek light bar, stacked LED headlamps and a premium-looking front grille.

The interior will offer a large touchscreen, digital cluster, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity and Level 2 ADAS. Engine options are expected to include a 1.3-litre turbo petrol making 154 bhp, a mild-hybrid setup and a naturally aspirated petrol. A strong hybrid option may arrive later. With an estimated starting price of around Rs 10.5 lakh, the Tekton will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.

Nissan’s Triber-Based Compact 7-Seater MPV

Another key launch will be Nissan’s compact 7-seater MPV based on the Renault Triber. Using the CMF-A+ platform, this MPV will offer Nissan-specific styling with a redesigned grille, sleeker headlamps, LED DRLs and projector lighting. The side profile will retain the Triber’s shape with 15-inch wheels and alloy-style covers.

Inside, the MPV will share much of its design with the Triber, offering practical seating, multiple storage areas and a user-friendly layout. It will use a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 71 bhp and 96 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT. A turbo-petrol version may join later. Expected rivals include the Renault Triber, Maruti Ertiga lower trims, Toyota Rumion and the base variants of the Citroën C3 Aircross.

Following the Tekton, Nissan will introduce a Tekton-based 7-seater SUV around 2027. This new Nissan 7-seater will share its design language with the Tekton but get a longer wheelbase to accommodate three rows of seats. Pricing is expected to fall between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.

This model will compete with popular three-row SUVs such as the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Carens and MG Hector Plus. With the growing demand for spacious family SUVs, Nissan aims to strengthen its position in the 7-seater segment.

Nissan’s Affordable Electric Car

Nissan is also preparing an affordable electric car for India, likely based on either the Renault Kwid EV or the Nissan Magnite. If based on the Kwid EV, it could use a 26.8 kWh battery offering around 220 km of range. Launch is expected in late 2025 or early 2026.

With an anticipated price tag of Rs 7–9 lakh, this small Nissan EV would compete with the Tata Tiago.ev, MG Comet EV and Citroën eC3. This model will help Nissan enter the fast-growing entry-level EV market with a practical, city-friendly electric hatchback.

Nissan’s upcoming lineup shows a strong focus on SUVs, family cars and affordable EVs, marking an important new chapter for the brand in India.
