Yamaha EC 06 Electric Scooter Unveiled in India with 160km Range

Yamaha has officially entered India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler market with the unveiling of its first EV, the EC-06. The scooter was showcased ahead of its market launch, which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. With its modern design and long-range battery, the EC-06 aims to offer Yamaha’s signature reliability in an all-electric package.

Yamaha EC-06 battery and performance

The Yamaha EC-06 is powered by a 4kWh high-capacity fixed battery pack. The brand claims a certified range of 160km on a single charge, positioning it among the most efficient electric scooters in its class. It uses a 4.5kW motor with a peak output of 6.7kW, though Yamaha has not yet revealed the top speed. The scooter can be charged at home via a standard power socket, taking around nine hours for a full charge.

Design and features

The EC-06 adopts a maxi-scooter-inspired design with smooth, flowing body panels and a comfortable riding posture. It gets an LCD instrument display instead of a TFT screen but includes a built-in telematics unit with SIM connectivity for real-time data and tracking. Riders can choose from three riding modes, while a reverse mode adds convenience in tight parking spaces. Yamaha has also provided a generous 24.5-litre under-seat storage compartment for practicality.

Launch and expectations in India

Yamaha will announce the EC-06’s price and delivery plans in early 2026. Once launched, it will take on the likes of the TVS X, Ola S1 Pro, and Ather 450 Apex. With its reliable engineering, long range, and premium design, the EC-06 could help Yamaha establish a strong foothold in India’s electric scooter segment.
