Yamaha XSR155 Launched in India at Rs 1.50 Lakh

Yamaha has officially launched the XSR155 in India at an introductory price of Rs 1,49,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The modern-retro motorcycle joins Yamaha’s 155cc lineup and combines timeless design with proven mechanicals from the MT-15. It aims to attract riders looking for classic style with everyday usability.

Yamaha XSR155 price and positioning

The XSR155 is Yamaha’s most affordable neo-retro motorcycle and sits below the XSR700 and XSR900 in the global lineup. With its competitive pricing, it targets buyers who want a mix of performance and character in the 150cc-160cc range. The upright riding posture and compact proportions make it practical for city use while maintaining a premium feel.

Engine and performance

Powering the XSR155 is a 155cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). It produces 18.1 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox that includes an assist-and-slipper clutch. The engine is known for its smooth throttle response, making it ideal for both commuting and short highway rides. Dual-channel ABS and traction control are offered as standard.

Design and features

The motorcycle’s design highlights include a round LED headlamp, teardrop fuel tank, and minimalist LCD console that underline its retro appeal. The Deltabox frame, upside-down front forks, and aluminium swingarm ensure sharp handling and a stable ride. The 17-inch alloy wheels and neutral riding stance make the bike accessible to newer riders while retaining Yamaha’s sporty DNA.

Yamaha offers the XSR155 in four colours: Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic, and Metallic Blue. Buyers can also choose between two official accessory packs — the Scrambler Pack with taller stance and rugged touches, and the Café Racer Pack featuring a sportier seat and styling cues. In India, the XSR155 will compete with the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Honda CB350RS, offering a lighter, more tech-rich alternative for retro motorcycle fans.
