8 Upcoming Electric Cars in India (2025–2027): Maruti e Vitara to Hyundai Inster EV
Electric cars are no longer futuristic concepts in India. Between 2025 and 2027, several automakers will launch practical and affordable EVs across various segments. Brands like Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Kia and Honda are leading the charge with improved range, performance and charging support.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti’s first electric SUV, the e Vitara, is set to launch in December 2025. It will come with two battery options—49 kWh and 61 kWh—offering a range of up to 500 km. Production has already started at the brand’s Gujarat facility.
Mahindra XUV700 Electric (XEV 7e)
The electric version of the popular XUV700 will arrive in early 2026. It will be India’s first mass-market seven-seater EV based on Mahindra’s INGLO platform. Expect dual battery options and a triple-screen dashboard setup.
Mahindra BE Rall-E

Mahindra’s BE Rall-E will be an off-road-focused electric SUV launching in 2026. Based on the BE 6, it will feature rugged styling, larger tyres, AWD capability and dual motors for enhanced performance.
Kia Syros EV
Kia’s Syros EV will debut in early 2026 as the brand’s second mainstream electric model after the Carens Clavis EV. It will feature EV-specific design cues, dual battery packs and an expected range of around 400 km.
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV in January 2026. Inspired by the iconic Sierra nameplate, it will share components with the Harrier EV and offer a premium, tech-rich cabin experience.
Tata Avinya EV Range
The Avinya lineup will introduce Tata’s Gen-3 skateboard EV platform. Expected to launch in 2027, this futuristic range may include up to five models, such as the Avinya X coupe-crossover first shown at Auto Expo 2025.
Hyundai Compact Electric SUV (Inster-based)
Hyundai is working on a compact EV for 2027 based on its Inster platform. It will use the E-GMP (K) architecture and rival compact models like the Tata Punch EV, featuring Level 2 ADAS and OTA updates.
Honda 0 Series SUV
Honda’s new 0 Series SUV will launch in 2026 as a premium imported model with an 80–100 kWh battery pack. The locally built 0 Alpha, coming in 2027, will offer a 65–75 kWh pack and compete with the Maruti e Vitara and Hyundai Creta EV.
